Giving Tuesday, November 30th is a national day of generosity and philanthropy. Amid the flurry and hype about shopping early for the holidays this year, it’s a time to think about giving back to the many non-profit organizations which make a difference in our world. We humbly, but also proudly, submit that First Christian Church is one of those organizations where your giving will have an impact long after the Christmas tree is taken down.

Help FCC finish the year strong and ready to meet the New Year! We ask you to consider making a gift or making an extra gift to the church as we approach the end of 2021. All donations are tax-deductible

Why Give to First Christian Church?

FCC is a spiritual and community resource with a strong track record of service to others beyond our walls. 106 years in Charlotte, 100 years in Dilworth – a legacy few organizations can match!
In a time of great division in our society, FCC is a church committed to being a safe and welcoming place for everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from.
FCC lives out its Mission “to love as Jesus loved and serve God in all we do” every day. FCC supports the Dilworth Soup Kitchen, Little Free Pantries, Project Outpour and many other missions throughout the year, including Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, Church World Service, Crisis Assistance, J.H. Gunn Elementary School, Loaves and Fishes and Week of Compassion relief fund.
Your dollars go toward sustaining these many ministries, full-time pastoral care and leadership, as well as preserving our historic property.

Ministry and pastoral care has taken on new meaning in the past 20 months of the pandemic. Pastor McElroy and Elders have served as strong sources of spiritual and practical support for many who are hurting physically, emotionally, and mentally. We’ve also moved to providing a combination of in-person and online opportunities for Worship, Bible Study, and Prayer & Fellowship. We are deeply grateful to our Pastor, staff, and the volunteers who have made this unprecedented change possible.

The preliminary 2022 Ministry Finance Plan (operating budget) is $ 203,079, less than a 2% increase over the 2021 budget. In these times of rising costs, the General Board has taken great pains to hold the line and ensure every dollar is used wisely.
It’s important to maintain our historic property. This past year we replaced the boiler, repaired plaster and painted the choir area, removed two trees and fencing next to the parking lot, and used mulch from the trees for grounds beautification. As always, we thank Jerry Maschke, Property Chair, for his loving care and tireless efforts to keep our aging church buildings safe, functional, and attractive. Our 2022 Capital and Building Repair Priorities are as follows:

Due to COVID-related cost increases, additional funds may be needed to supplement a $ 4,000 gift for this purpose.

Sanctuary HVAC/ Ionizer Installation – due to COVID-related cost increases, additional funds may be needed to supplement $20,000 in gifts for this purpose.

Ceiling Repairs to Choir Room and Narthex Bathroom – $ 2,000.

Toilets, Education Building – $ 800.

Parking Lot Repair – $ 25,000.

Fellowship Hall Floor Replacement – $ 9,000.  A portion of this cost will be covered by the Dilworth Soup Kitchen.

We encourage you to earmark your gift for the General Operating Fund, the Building Repair Fund or a specific building project where the church’s needs are greatest.  If you have family members, friends or work associates who are contemplating year-end contributions, please encourage them to support FCC too.
