"We who had sweet fellowship together
Walked in the house of God in the throng." -Psalm 55:14
First Christian Church offers a rich variety of activities and mission for adult faith-building and fellowship.
Please read below for some of these recurring opportunities. For one-time and special events, also be sure to check out our Events page to see what's coming up.
Bible Study—A wonderful class of adults are engaged in a Bible Studyevery Sunday during the Sunday School hour. The current study of the book of Isaiah benefits from the recent transformative experience teacher Tara Romine had in the Holy Land. Classes meet 9:45 am-10:45 am on Sunday mornings in the downstairs room of the Church School Building. You are welcome to be part of it!
Knitting Group—Tuesday nights, a group of knitters gathers to create one-of-a-kind prayer shawls, baby blankets, and other items to bless people with warmth and comfort. The prayer shawls have traveled to hospitals, to doctor's appointments, to new homes, to assisted living apartments, to dialysis and chemotherapy treatments, and become a sign of God's continued presence and embrace during difficult times. This group meets in the downstairs room of the Church School Building on Tuesday nights 6:30 pm-7:00 pm (TBA)
Book Club—Like to read? We will be starting the Book Club up again this Fall. Time and place to be determined. In the past, we have read a collection of new titles, classics, and fun novels. Usually, these books ask some good questions about life and faith. Discussions are lively and great fun. To find out more, call the church office.
Choir—Adults are most welcome to join our Chancel Choir. Marie F. Graham, our Music Minister, has worked wonders with the members of the choir. There is no requirement that you must read music or have a background in choral singing. There is a requirement that you have a good sense of humor, however. This group likes to laugh together. Choir meets at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights in the sanctuary building. From the back parking lot, come to the door with three crosses.
AA—While not directly sponsored by our church, we've been grateful for the Alcoholics Anonymous groups that have transformed lives within our walls. Currently the AA Mindful Meditation Group meets on Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm on the third floor of our Church School Building.
Movement Classes—Various classes have met at First Christian Church taught by instructors for Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong. These classes meet on the third floor. Please check the calendar for scheduled times.
